why is membership important?

  • membership signifies that a person has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and that he/she is willing to put their faith into action.
  • membership helps the staff identify the people we can trust to lead and care for others.

what if i attend ffc. doesn't that mean i'm a member?

  • no. becoming a member of ffc is an official act that signifies one's willingness to support this ministry with his or her time, talents, and treasure, and to be held accountable to the values of ffc.  with the added requirement of participation on a strategic service team or in a community group, it also signifies that the person will partner with us in striving to achieve our vision.

how do i become a member?

  • call or email pastor cyndi and then complete a membership application.
  • everyone seeking to become a member of ffc must attend a 3-hour membership class where pastor cyndi explains the church's vision, purpose, beliefs, and core values.

why is it important to be a member in order to be in a leadership role?

  • because of what membership represents, members are the most qualified people to be in a leadership position.
  • often, if people are not willing to be held accountable, to go public with their faith through baptism, or to commit to leading people into a relationship with Jesus Christ, they are not ready to lead others within the church environments.

what does membership indicate?

  • partnering with the church helps lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • those people who want to join ffc seem to understand the paradigm shift from "what do i get?" to "what can i give?"

what are the prerequisites to becoming a member?

  • have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • have been baptized in water since accepting Christ.
  • are willing to support this ministry with time, talents, and treasure and are willing to be held accountable to the church in matters concerning their relationship to God and to others.
  • be involved in community through faithful church attendance [mature], participation in connection point [mission], and serving on a strategic service team [ministry].

what is a strategic service team?

  • strategic service teams are groups of volunteers who serve within the church and serve outside the church through community service.  volunteers are vital to ferndalefoursqure church.  we look to them to facilitate and potentially lead the environments we have created to help others develop and grow a relationship with Jesus Christ.

what if i want to join the church, but i don't want to be in connection point or serve on a strategic service team? i don't have time to get involved. why is it so important that i do?

  • membership at ffc is not about having your name on a list.  being a member at ffc indicates a willingness to get involved. membership indicates willingness to partner with us in our mission to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • we believe that life change happens best through community.  connection point is the best environment to open God's Word together, pray together, grow together, be held accountable, be cared for, and experience being part of a family.
  • because authentic community and strategic service are vital components of our five-fold purpose, we want our members to partner with us in achieving them.

i have always been in a small group, but at the moment i am between groups. can i still join the church?

  • yes, but we encourage you to re-engage in connection point as soon as possible.  after completing the application, please indicate that you are in between groups in the area titled "involvement in community."

if you are ready to proceed . . .

  • please call pastor cyndi at 248 545 1511 or click here to send an email request.
